Can you see the little piece of white on the egg? We’ve also noticed that some of the eggs are wiggling!

The eggs arrive and everyone is very curious and excited! We have eight little eggs in our incubator. The incubator is set at 37.7 degrees Celsius, which mimics the temperature that a mother Hen would make sitting on her eggs. They should begin to hatch on Wednesday! We’re so excited!

OH NO!!!!

This week well fell victim to a terrible crime. While we were at lunch, someone sneakily came into our classroom and made a really big mess!!

We were so shocked!! We think that the person who came in left us a few clues. It looked like the person liked lots of different kinds of fruit, as they left lots on our snack table! The person also really must have liked reading but they forgot to tidy up when they were finished! Just look at the mess in our reading area!

Who do you think muddled up our classroom?

IMG_2047 IMG_2048 IMG_2049 IMG_2050 IMG_2051

Not to worry! RR quickly set about investigating the crime. We put on our finest police uniforms, picked up our magnifying glasses and we were determined to solve the crime!

We had a few ideas about who it might have been. Some of us thought that Handa had broken in because she likes fruit. Others thought that it might have been Goldilocks who made the mess. Whoever it was, we sure showed them! We teamed together and had a really good tidy up. Our class was much better after!  Great team work everyone! We even wrote letters to kindly ask whoever had done it, never to do it again!

This week we have also been creating our very own animals and creatures. Just look at some of the lovely and creative designs that we have made! We have also been using our sounds to describe some of their features!

What features would you put on your crazy creature design?

IT Whizzes!

check us out! We have been using the iPads and Google to answer some of our questions!

We asked questions like:

“How was the first person born because there was no one else around, so how would they get born with no one else around?”

“Why is fruit good for you?”

“How do rockets blast off?”

“How do vets look after pets?”

“How do iPads work?”

What great questions! What question would you like to ask Google?

Wow RR, We’ve been so busy!! I Wonder what next week will bring!

It’s About Time!

We’ve been busy again this week in RR class. Our maths focus has been on time. We have been measuring time and discussing the language that we use when talk about time.

IMG_2019 IMG_2016 IMG_2018

We have been making really big clocks! We have worked together to find where the numbers go and we have even pretended to be the big hand and the little hand. Do you know what time it is?

IMG_2034 IMG_2035

We have been using timers to race and see how many beads we can thread in a  set time! how many beads do you think you could thread in one minute? It’s trickier than you think!

IMG_2004 IMG_2005 IMG_2006 IMG_2009 IMG_2023IMG_2020IMG_2010IMG_2021

We have been playing in our very own Travel agents! We been booking holidays, using the globe to fond out where we would like to go, and looking through our travel magazines to explore what different places have to offer. Some of the places even have football pitches! When can we go?

Where would you like to go on holiday?
Are you going on any holidays this year?

IMG_1986IMG_1985 IMG_1987 IMG_1988

We had a lot of fun trying to make life sized cut outs too! We were really inspired by some of Miss Roberts resources and so tried to make our own. Here you can see us really working together to try and roll the paper out and draw around each other. We even tried to cut them out!

IMG_2025 IMG_2026 IMG_2027

We were even lucky enough to see a show this week all about being late! Now we know just how important it is to be on time every day! We really enjoyed it! There was even a quiz!

Can you remember why it is important to be on time?

This week we’ve also been focussing on Africa. We have been talking about African animals and have read the book ‘Handa’s Surprise’. We have even been learning an African Nursery Rhyme called ‘Kye Kye Kule’. Can you remember the actions?

Wow we’ve been so busy! I wonder what next week will bring?

IMG_1979 IMG_1980 IMG_1982 IMG_1984

Just look at everyone trying out some new sounds! What instruments do you like to play?

IMG_1977

We have really enjoyed dressing up as insects this week! We have even made a some dark and scary woods to walk through. We have really enjoyed the sound and feeling of the sugar paper as we have scrunched it and walked through it! It really feels like we are in the forest!

Our Theme has been ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen. We’re Going on a Bear Hunt 25th Anniversary Logo. We’re Going on a Bear Hunt Celebrating 25 Years Header Image. Illustration of man walking with three children.

Everything has been going so fast! It’s the last week of the Autumn term and looking back on our Blog, we can see how busy we have all been!

This week we got the privilege of seeing the Key-Stage 2 production which we really enjoyed!

This week we have been working hard as Santa’s little helpers, designing, wrapping and fixing the presents for Christmas day!
We have even been giving gifts to each other and  talking about how gifts make us feel when we give and receive them.

IMG_1922 IMG_1924 IMG_1925 IMG_1926 IMG_1927 IMG_1932 IMG_1933

Here we are sporting our PE kits and headbands that we made especially for our class production. We were so proud to sing to our parents on the big stage!

IMG_1931

This week we have also been exploring ice. We have been talking about how ice freezes, and why it melts. We have been using our senses to describe how it feels and talking about the ice might be melting when we hold it in our hands.

Why do you think ice melts when you hold it?

What is ice made from?

IMG_1934 IMG_1936 IMG_1937 IMG_1938 IMG_1941

This week we have also been creating a variety of different decorations, from snow-cone men, to glittery Christmas trees! We have even been making bead decorations that look like candy canes!

IMG_1945IMG_1943 IMG_1927 IMG_1928

We have also spent a lot of time this week making and writing out Christmas cards for our family and friends. Here a few of the designs we have made.

Have you been given any Christmas cards? Who were they from?

IMG_1939 IMG_1940

As you can see We have had a very busy term here in RR class. We do hope you will continue to visit us and would love to hear more of your comments on our work.

We hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Reception have been working hard this week to learn about capacity. we have been comparing the sixes of different containers and talking about whether we think they are full, nearly full, half full, half empty, nearly empty or empty.

We have also been writing on post-its to label these containers.

Can you see our fantastic writing?

IMG_1889IMG_1890IMG_1895IMG_1886

We have also been exploring capacity using rice and different sized containers. We have enjoyed filling the containers and using these to show our teachers how well we understand the language of capacity.

IMG_1893

Look out containers are empty!

IMG_1894

Look, our containers are nearly empty!

IMG_1892

This week we have also been trying our hands at cracking the codes to untangle the chain! It’s been tricky, but we have used our number knowledge to match the correct key to the lock.

Did you match any of the keys?

IMG_1897

We also had an impromptu game of buses! We had a fantastic time and all played really well together. Some of us were drivers, some of us were ticket collectors and some of us were conductors! We went to the beach and saw lots of different things on the way! We really enjoyed ourselves!

Can you spot the driver?

IMG_1898 IMG_1899

As usual we have had so many experiences this week and have been working really hard! The writing area is always full of keen artists and writers, we have been using the book corner to play families and we have been spending time with out friends building train tracks and reading books.

IMG_1900 IMG_1901 IMG_1902 IMG_1903 IMG_1904 IMG_1905

What do you like to with your friends in class?

IMG_1878

We also finished our baubles for the Christmas bazaar. However, there is one more step to go! We think you’re going to love the final result!

IMG_1882 IMG_1883 IMG_1884

Check out some of the amazing artwork we have produced this week! (and it’s only Wednesday!) We are so proud with our work and love to make things for our friends. We have even been trying to make paper chains this week to decorate the classroom!

We have been continuing to practice our songs for the Christmas production and our ‘Star song’ really is beautiful. We have actions for the song and we are going to have special head bands for the performance! We don;t want to give too much away…for now.

It’s all go on the run up to Christmas!

We have had a very busy week again this week with the run up to the Christmas Bazaar and Production. We have been making baubles and learning our lovely star song for the Christmas production and we are very excited about sharing this with our parents!

IMG_1835 IMG_1836 IMG_1837 IMG_1838IMG_1866

We have had a gym in our class this week! We’ve all enjoyed finding out how some of the equipment works. We have been counting how many steps we have been doing, timing how long it takes to do a certain exercise, and we have been using weights to make our muscles big and strong! We’ve even been doing press ups! We love being on the soft mat too! We have even been talking about the importance of a balanced diet and exercise and the effect that exercise has on our bodies.

IMG_1862 IMG_1858IMG_1859IMG_1864

This week we have also been exploring colours and how they mix. We have been using salt and food colouring to explore what happens as we add the colour to the salt, bit-by-bit. We have loved exploring the texture of the salt with our hands. It felt a little bit like sand.

IMG_1843

IMG_1846 IMG_1847 IMG_1851

We have also used paint and food colouring to see what happens when the two colours meet in the middle as they are absorbed by some tissue paper. We were very interested to see what was happening.

IMG_1852 IMG_1853 IMG_1870 IMG_1873 IMG_1874

As usual there is so much writing happening in the class all the time! We are always practising writing out new sounds, and we love drawing too! We like to draw superheroes pictures of monsters and practise writing our names!
